Adults

Faith formation is important for Christians of all ages. It shapes how we interact with God and with our families, our communities, our workplaces, and the world. In addition, continued adult study models for the children and youth of the church that one's faith journey is never complete.

First Pres has a strong tradition of offering educational opportunities for adults. We explore a wide range of topics related to faith in our Adult Education classes. We go deep in our engagement with God’s word in our Bible Studies. We develop deep-rooted relationships with God and each other in our various Small Groups.

Throughout the year, First Pres offers gatherings and events for adults to have a chance to connect, grow in faith and have fun.

Adult Classes

Throughout the school year, we offer adult education classes during the hour between services – 9:45-10:45 a.m. The classes range from taking an in-depth look at books of the Bible to topical studies. Some classes are video based, some book based, and some are led by members of the congregation or pastoral staff. Our goal is to create learning, discussion and connection, sometimes even make us squirm a little as we tackle challenging ideas and topics.

It’s a great way to get to know members of the congregation, too.

Bible Studies & Small Groups

Adult classes are not limited to Sunday mornings! Throughout the week, we offer
opportunities to gather together to educate and equip our congregation. They are always open to people joining in.

Pastor's Thursday Morning Bible Study
10–11 a.m. in the Library. Each week, this group looks at the upcoming Sunday morning’s sermon text. Come join the conversation and get a head start. Facilitated by the pastors.

Men’s Bible Studies
  • Wednesday Men’s Breakfast Study – 7 a.m. at Hill’s Restaurant
  • Thursday Men’s Breakfast Study – 7:30 a.m. at Hill’s Restaurant

Women’s Bible Studies
  • Monday Ladies’ Night Out – 6 p.m. (2nd Monday of the month) in the Fireside Room
  • Presbyterian Women’s Tuesday Morning Circle – 9:30 a.m. (2nd Tuesday of the month) in the South Alcove
  • Wednesday Women’s Bible Study – 9 a.m. in Room 109
  • Friday Morning Women’s Book Club – 9 a.m. in the Fireside Room

Small Groups
Being in a small group is a great way to experience community and grow spiritually. Here at First Pres we offer a variety of small groups: women’s, men’s, co-ed and support groups.

Special Events and Retreats

Throughout the year, First Pres offers luncheons, programs of interest, and occasional retreat weekends aimed at spiritual renewal, learning, and fellowship. These events are publicized in the Sunday bulletin, weekly newsletter and on the website calendar
