Don’t Get in God’s Way!
“Then, because of the decree King Darius had sent… the elders of the Jews continued to build and prosper under the preaching of the prophets Haggai and Zechariah. They finished building the temple according to the command of the God of Israel and the decrees of Cyrus, Darius and Artaxerxes, kings of Persia. The temple was completed in the sixth year of the reign of King Darius.” -Ezra 6:13-15
God’s work never stops. Even when it feels like we have stopped. When God shows us the work and allows us to participate we are often amazed at how quickly and efficiently things come together! Recently, I watched a documentary about the growth of babies. It was amazing to learn that they do, indeed, “grow overnight”! Instead of growing a little daily, (as I had expected), children grow all at once and it seems as though they grew an inch overnight – well, maybe they did! That’s a little how God’s work feels to us also. We don’t see any movement for a long time and then… BAM! Everything moves and changes and falls into place.
This is what happened in response to the letter written to the new King Darius asking whether the governors should stop the Jews from rebuilding the temple. Instead of stopping them, the governors of that region were compelled to SUPPORT the rebuild. Darius commanded that they give whatever supplies were needed. They were also to provide the animals for sacrifices in the temple. They were to use taxes to pay for the work. It was incredible! Not only did God provide a way and an opportunity for the temple to be completed, but God also used Darius to provide the means and the resources to get it done!
God is moving and working in your life as well. In His time, He makes all things beautiful. It might be a matter of getting the right person in the right place in order to accomplish the task, but God has not forgotten you. God has not given up on you. God is still on the move! Whatever it is that you feel has stopped or become an obstacle to your moving forward, bring it to Jesus. Let’s confess our failure, our fear and our frustration. Let’s receive the gift of peace, comfort, and the assurance that it’s not just up to us to do the work of God in the world. Where do you see God moving and working in your life? Where do you see God moving and working in the world? Perhaps your purpose in this time is simply a matter of joining God in the work already in motion all around us.
One way you can connect with the work God is doing is through our Mission Partners. Music for Life, the parent organization for the African Children’s Choir is desperate to find more sponsors for children in both the choir program and the outreach programs. Please pray about the opportunity to make a powerful impact in the life of a young person in Uganda through this pandemic. Our situation in the USA through the Covid Pandemic might be inconvenient, but in other parts of the world, it is a matter of life and death simply to find food. Your $30/month for a student provides adequate daily meals and education in the outreach centers. The choir sponsorship is $50/month to provide meals and education through University. Please pray about how God might be calling you to share in the work God is doing through this or another of our mission partners in the world. (Links to the mission partners are found below.)

God of power and might, you are always moving and working in the world. Give us eyes to see where you are at work and courage to join in the efforts. Thank you for the privilege it is to join in your ministry in our community and in our world. Bless the 100 children desperate for sponsors through Music for Life. Provide the right person in the right place to meet those needs. Amen.
