Thankful for Home
Praise the Lord.
Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good;
his love endures forever.
-Psalm 106:1
It’s Thanksgiving next week and I’m reminded to notice the blessings around me. The people of God have always celebrated God’s work and God’s love. They have been a people who give thanks to the Lord. Thanksgiving celebrations can often be stressful and chaotic with shopping and big meals to prepare, family visiting, and lots of activity. Or it can be a painful reminder of loneliness; how difficult and painful recent losses have been. Wherever you find yourself – overwhelmed with activity, or feeling the pang of loneliness, know that God is with you. God’s love endures forever, give thanks.
This week’s question: What am I thankful for?
In the midst of our thanksgiving, let us pause in silence to recall how we so often lose sight of the gifts of each day and of their Giver.
O God, we know that we forget about you, we forget to love you, we forget to help our neighbors, we forget to thank you. Forgive us. Grant us clear minds to know you, new hearts to love you, strong hands to serve you. Help us live this day, this week, and always so that our whole life is a thanksgiving to you. Amen.
