Jesus wept.

Jesus wept.
– John 11:35

One of the most powerful proofs of Jesus’ humanity is from the shortest verse in the Bible.  John 11:35.  God doesn’t need to weep.  God can change the situation.  And yet, Jesus is not only God, but also man.  Jesus feels and understands our pain.  Jesus wept over the grief he experienced with the sisters of his friend, Lazarus.  Jesus wept.

Shortly afterwards, Jesus resurrected Lazarus from the dead; but he still felt the pain.  He still was present with his friends-acknowledged the hurt and grief.

What in your life is causing you to question God’s love?  What situation feels like a curse rather than an opportunity to see God at work?  May we shift from trying to place blame in a situation – to asking God to open our eyes to opportunity for God’s glory.

God, we confess that oftentimes our boxes are too small. We know what, and who, belongs where.  But your circle is always growing, erasing our lines in the sand. Call out to us, O God.  Widen our vision. Lead us, Lord, to walk your way on any road we travel.  Amen.
