Finding Community
All the believers were one in heart and mind. No one claimed that any of their possessions was their own, but they shared everything they had. With great power the apostles continued to testify to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. And God’s grace was so powerfully at work in them all that there were no needy persons among them. For from time to time those who owned land or houses sold them, brought the money from the sales and put it at the
apostles’ feet, and it was distributed to anyone who had need.
-Acts 4:32-35
This week’s newsletter comes from our Student Ministries Intern, Norma Cristobal:
Bringing Young Believers (YBs) youth group back to the church after having its doors closed for almost two years was a bit hard and intimidating. I knew that I wasn’t going to have 10 kids overnight, in fact I had 1 kid come for a month and I was okay with that, because I knew God’s message was getting through to that student. The student would ask many questions and that made me feel like I was doing something right. Now I have about seven kids coming regularly, all wanting to learn about Jesus. God has a plan, and I have to be obedient and follow him.
Norma’s summer is filled with trips and activities for our young members. Please keep our students in your prayers as they travel and experience God’s presence in life-changing ways through camp.
June 20-23 is Trailseeker Orca Encampment.
June 26-July 1 is Middle School Camp at Tall Timber.
July 9-17 is the Guatemala Mission Trip
July 26-28 is Vacation Bible School at our church
August 9-14 is High School Camp at Washington Family Ranch (Young Life Camp)
God of mercy, we come celebrating our unity, but we confess the many ways that we are divided. Our nationality, ethnic origin, economic status, gender, age, and musical preferences all too often obscure the common calling we share in Christ’s name. May our common identity as your children and our communal witness to Christ bind us together in your name. Forgive our tendency toward separation and division, and remind us that we are your Easter people. Amen.
