Trailseeker Thanksgiving
“Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’”
-Matthew 25:34-36
Sharing a special meal around the table is important for all people. We look forward to special occasions and food prepared with love. Next week we will be busy preparing for our own Thanksgiving celebrations, however we may celebrate it. But this Saturday, we have an opportunity to share a special meal prepared with love with our Trailseeker families.
This year, we have more than 70 elementary students in our Trailseeker program. These at-risk youngsters are learning about God’s unending love through weekly lessons and personal relationships. You serve as teachers, mentors, drivers, cooks, and even if you never show up on a Monday afternoon, your financial gifts to the church support this ministry outreach. You are changing young lives through Trailseekers. If you are able to help with the meal this Saturday, sign-up sheets are in the narthex. If you can’t be there in person, I ask you to pray for our families as they gather around tables to give thanks to God for our church and for this meal prepared in love.
This fall, we will practice sharing our stories of faith. This Sunday Dave Burrill will share his testimony of how God used music to grow his faith. God has given each of us a wonderful story to tell! Please join us in worship this fall as we share our own inspiring stories of faith.
Creator God, you knit all things together with your infinite wisdom. We confess that we are often foolish, yet believe ourselves wise. We ravage your creation, taking what we want without concern, searching for freedom and happiness, forgetting that our true purpose and joy is found only in you. We seek first our own good, heedless of our place as one strand in the carefully woven fabric of your world. Forgive us. Open our ears to hear you speaking, and our hearts to embrace your purpose. Amen.
