Route 66 – We Made It!

But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it, and how from infancy you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

– 2 Timothy 3:14-17

We read through the entire Bible in 9 months. Well done, church!  This Sunday we will focus on what we learned through this journey on Route 66.  We learned about the character of God and the people God chose to do His work on earth. We learned about the person of Jesus Christ, his teachings and work of salvation on the cross and in the empty tomb. We learned about the early church and how challenging it is to live in community as God’s people. And we learned that God wins in the end.

I pray that this series has been helpful to your life of faith. It has been a joy to work on these sermons and Bible studies with you. May we see connections through the stories of God that reach all the way to where we are today. Let’s keep reading and learning from God’s word, church. There is always something new to discover.

God of the ages, you gift us with your Word, written in the Bible and lived out in Jesus Christ. Yet we ignore this gift. We pretend that it doesn’t make sense in our world. We read it without trusting you to open it to our understanding. We act as if your word is always the same, when it is in fact you who does not change. Forgive us, O God.

Help us to hear your eternal Word anew in our hearts and our lives, and show us how to live it out in our world, now and always. Amen.
